Hello all! I hope your February has been well!
I apologize for the late newsletter. I was ill for most of the month and that really affected my momentum. I worked on this in the week I was supposed to post it and hopefully, I can have it up by the 28th (It’s now March, nevermind!)
For those that don’t know, I have the Crohn’s and ever since I was diagnosed, it seems to want to make itself known quite frequently!
My medication stopped working and I was prescribed a different kind. I had to do some tests before I could start taking it, which meant a lengthy wait, but I was finally approved for my first dose in mid-February, right around the time I had a flare-up from the unfortunate decision of eating some delicious (but sooo not worth it) fried chicken and chips.
I received my new medication through an IV line, so I had to spend a few (6-8) hours at the hospital. It was a long day, especially since I started it at 3 AM, but it went well.
While I’m starting to feel better, it’s been difficult to get back into my work.
Despite all that, I did get some stuff done before I was sick. I also tried to do some work while I was sick, but I don’t recommend that. Not just because you should be resting when ill, but also because you never do your best work when you’re not 100%.
That’s what happened with me and my ‘Fancy Flowers’ sticker set. I worked on them while I still could and they look great, don’t get me wrong. I just feel like my colour selection for the background wasn’t the best.
What do you think?
This was the only one I worked on while not sick, so I’m pretty happy with how it came out.
This one was a bit of a pain to paint and I don’t think pink was the right choice here
I planned this colour palette in advance, but now I’m not so sure about it. It’s still not done though, so we’ll see how I feel about it once it’s complete.
Overall, I don’t dislike them, and I have no problem leaving them as is for the sticker set, but I won’t be working on important art while I’m sick again!
New Creature Art
Because of this, I’m not really in the mood to finish my stickers quite yet, but I really wanted to paint something, so I started on a whole new painting inspired by an artist that I came across on Instagram.

I recently discovered this artist on Instagram. They draw these cute little ethereal fairy creatures, and they immediately reminded me of some of my cute little ethereal fairy creatures (but in a different flavour) that I’ve drawn in my sketchbook in the past.
The calm and green vibe of Povo’s artwork inspired me to create some green-adjacent artwork of my own.
I really like the hair they give their creatures. It’s very liquidy and ink-like. Just that alone inspired the whole aquatic vibe of my creatures.

Here’s what I have so far.
Of course, I eventually plan to sell her! She’s 5 x 7, so she can fit in a store-bought frame. I have other creature pieces planned and already sketched out (I was really inspired!) I plan to work on them in between my market prep as a ‘palate cleanser’.
I’m also thinking of taking them to the market with me. My last attempt at selling my originals at a market was a huge fail, but that was just one attempt. Gotta try again and switch it up a bit.
So, that’s all for this month! I hope March will be more productive and with less illness.
I actually had my second infusion of medication on the 28th! I didn’t wake up at 3 AM for this one, so I was more well rested and while the antiallergic they gave me did make me quite sleepy, I wasn’t as tired as last time (I still knocked out once I was home and after I ate something though).
Also, my birthday is in early March (the 5th!) and I’m glad that I’ll be well enough to celebrate. It will be my last year as a 20-something year-old and it’s quite exciting!
Again, I apologize for the late newsletter, but I hope you enjoyed reading! Thank you for stopping by and I will see you later in the month at the appropriate posting time!
